After the arrival of Europeans in North America, many Wendat villages were destroyed. Within fifty years of the first European contact only three thousand members of this once-powerful nation remained. After many displacements, 1300 of this number settled in Wendake, Quebec where visitors can go to see the remnants of this vibrant culture and participate in traditional activities. This site is unique to Canada because it is home to so many of the Huron-Wendat nation.
