Theatre of Memories
Feb 28, 2015
I always pass by the Eglinton Theatre on my way home from school, admiring the 1920-esque architecture and atmosphere it always gives off. Even though I have never been inside this establishment, it still holds many memories whenever I look at it. This theatre was a meeting place for my friends and I when we started high school. It was the place where I took shelter when I get caught in the rain, a little piece of shade during those hot days in May, and where I said good-bye to my friends on our last day of grade twelve. To the average person, the Eglinton Theatre may just be an old brick building that was built so long ago, but to me it brings back the nostalgic feeling of high school. I guess you would call it a theatre of memories.
Formerly The Eglinton Theatre, this historic landmark has been restored to its original 1937 grandeur! Holding true to its art deco décor, The Eglinton Grand is adorned with rich woods including mahogany and ebony, elegant marble, beautiful wainscoting and period furniture. The balcony level will create an ideal private cocktail area. The venue can host dinners from 100 to 450 for a sit down dinner and cocktail receptions for up to 700 guests. Also included onsite is a gorgeous ceremonial room called The Gallery. This space can be used for ceremonies, break out areas or as an area to enhance your event. Capacity of this room is up to 300 guests sit down.
